World's First! Launching a Mail-In Analysis Kit for "Aging Marker - Chromosome Telomere Length" – Named the MiRMes (pronounced as "Milmes") as Part of MIRAI LAB's Health Assessment Mail-In Analysis Series.

MIRAI LAB Official Online Shop

MIRAI LAB BioScience Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Megumi Tanaka) has developed a groundbreaking mail-in analysis kit called "Chromosome Aging Analysis Kit - Telomere Check" that allows you to measure the length of telomeres, a marker of cellular aging, from the comfort of your own home.

With this kit, you can quantify the length of telomeres, which protect genomic DNA within cells. Furthermore, by leveraging our proprietary research, including the clinical study announced in October 2022 (1), we have accumulated a database that allows you to assess the degree of cellular aging based on this numerical value.

This kit will be available for purchase on our e-commerce site starting on August 4, 2023. In advance of the official release, pre-orders are available at a special price of 38,500 yen (tax included) from July 7, 2023.

In addition, MIRAI LAB's health assessment mail-in analysis series, including this kit, has been named "MiRMes (MiRAIlab Remote Medical Check Series)." With the release of this kit, the MiRMes lineup now includes the following three products:

① "Mitochondria Quantitation Kit - Energy Check" Released on August 1, 2022, Tax Included: 16,500 yen

For users of this kit, without having to visit a medical institution, you can measure the length of telomeres by sending your self-collected saliva. Our company has established a testing method for quantifying the length of telomeres in cells contained in saliva using a technique based on PCR (polymerase chain reaction). We have built a unique database through clinical studies involving individuals of various ages in Japan. Based on the measured telomere length from the samples sent to us, we assess the body's condition and degree of aging, and send you a report via email.

Telomeres are structures at the ends of chromosomes within cells, and they have the vital role of protecting important genetic information. When cells divide and replicate, a small part of the telomeres is lost and becomes shorter. Over the course of several decades in a human's life, many cells perform metabolism by repeatedly dividing. As a result, the telomeres within cells become shorter with age. When telomeres become critically short, cells can no longer divide and produce new cells. This is considered a factor in aging. Shortened telomeres are also believed to be associated with an increased risk of age-related diseases (2).

The shortening of telomeres is greatly influenced by lifestyle and living conditions. Improving one's lifestyle is believed to slow down the rate of telomere shortening (3). Recent research papers have also suggested that taking Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) could potentially extend telomeres (4, 5). Furthermore, Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+), produced as a material in cells from NMN, may potentially mitigate the adverse effects on health even if telomeres are shortened (6).

As a leading company in NMN, which was the first in the world to launch NMN supplements, MIRAI LAB aims to achieve "Productive Aging" based on scientific evidence and contributes to the improvement of Quality Of Life through the expansion of the MiRMes health assessment mail-in analysis series, the supply of NMN supplements, NMN infusion research reagents, and NMN-containing cosmetics, among other efforts.
